Day 19: Finally a Letter...August 12, 1861

Its been a couple of weeks since I heard from the boys, I hope their doing alright. Im sure something has been happenin and hopefully later today there were will be mail. AnnaMae came running up to me today, she got a letter from Peter, first letter since he left! AnnaMae aint the best reader, so I read it to her. It was a pretty happy letter, I could tell it made AnnaMae's day just like the letters from my brothers make my day. AnnaMae's family could now finally breathe a little, and know that their son/brother is in good condition and most importantly alive! AnneMae and I decided to sneak out to the cow fields, even though Momma said not to go out there. We couldnt help ourselves, we just love it out there and we can think. Momma came out to us and surprisingly sat right next to us, and laid down with us. Momma was never afraid to speak her mind, thats probably where I get me talkin a lot from. Momma said that she misses the boys dearly, and she knows that God has his hands in a good place and God has a plan and she knows he will bring those boys home safe and sound. I hope Momma is right.
