Newspapers have been flyin in like crazy, I guess things have been picked up in past couple of weeks. I still havent gotten a response from the boys....I sure do hope nothin gets lost or nothin. Poppa read the paper to me the other day, on November 1 which was 8 days ago. The Union got a new General, General McClellan and Poppa says that hes a strong officer but these confederates have everything under control. Yesterday, an international diplomatic crisis happened, President Lincoln had two confederate officials sailing toward England, but then are captured by the U.S. Navy. England demands their rights to be let go, other wise they will declare war, Lincoln eventually gave in and orders their release in December. "One war at a time" says Lincoln. There is already enough, we dont need more of this nonsense. People dont have brains no more, its crazy how much that people dont have common sense anymore. There was a hidden article that said that some soldiers have made home, right here in South Carolina. Captain Samuel F. Dupont's warships silenced Confederate guns in Fort Walker and Fort Beauregard. This victory enabled General Thomas W. Sherman's troops to occupy first Port Royal and then all the famous Sea Islands of South Carolina, where Timothy H. O'Sullivan recorded them making themselves at home. The soldiers are now staying here, now, in South Carolina. I hope tensions dont bring us to danger.
